چکیده

Distributed computing systems are composed of various types of services. Providing a reliable and efficient distributed computing environment largely depends on the effective management of these services. One important aspect of managing services within a distributed computing environment is maintaining information about the services, especially at run-time. To facilitate this, much work has been done on mechanisms called Traders that provide a framework for managing and exchanging services in an open distributed computing environment. Open Distributed Processing (ODP), a proposed ISO standard, includes such a trader mechanism. This paper addresses problems associated with providing a single transparent trading service in the presence of multiple physical traders in a large distributed computing environment. The group of traders form a federation or interworking of traders which share their service offer spaces. We present the design for the interworking of traders, as well as a prototype implementation using OSF DCE, and report our experience with it to date.

Design of a Real-Time Trader for Mobile Objects in Open Distributed Environments

Advances in wireless communication and distributed computing will create a new computing environment where mobile objects can work in real-time over heterogeneous systems anywhere and at any time. In this environment, real-time traders which can perform trading services under timing constraints are required. In this paper, we identify design issues of a real-time trader for mobile objects and i...

ODP-Trader

In an open distributed system, it is desirable to have dynamic selection of required services. Trading is a common ODP function that enables client (service consumers) to choose appropriate servers (service providers) at run time so that clients can be configured into an ODP system without prior knowledge of the server objects. An ODP-trader is an object that provides such a trading function. U...

CPN Modelling of an Object Based System: The ODP Trader

Advances in computing power and networking technologies are leading the way to a new generation of information systems, where heterogeneous computers share resources and cooperate in a distributed manner. Such systems are inherently complex due to concurrency and synchronisation of activities operating in parallel, making design and implementation much more challenging than yesterday’s stand–al...

A Coloured Petri Net model of an Open Object–based System

Open Object–based systems are becoming increasingly used as the basis for design of distributed systems. These systems are inherently complex due to concurrency and synchronisation of activities operating in parallel. In order to engineer these Open Distributed Systems, tools are required to aid in the design and analysis processes. In this paper, Coloured Petri Nets and the Design/CPN tool are...

Improving the palbimm scheduling algorithm for fault tolerance in cloud computing

Cloud computing is the latest technology that involves distributed computation over the Internet. It meets the needs of users through sharing resources and using virtual technology. The workflow user applications refer to a set of tasks to be processed within the cloud environment. Scheduling algorithms have a lot to do with the efficiency of cloud computing environments through selection of su...
